THE family of 20-year-old Rebecca Caine has paid a touching tribute to their ‘little angel’.

Rebecca, who lived in Birstall, died after she was in a head-on collision on the M62 in the early hours of Sunday morning.

She was a back seat passenger in a Chevrolet Matiz, and died when the car was hit by a Renault Megane near to junction 21 at Milnrow at 3am.

Her family – twin brother Jack, younger sister Emma, mum Susan and her partner Russell and her father Tim and his wife Joanna – has released a statement.

They said: “Rebecca was a bright light that attracted everything to her with her infectious laugh and her beaming smile. She saw the best in everyone and was loved by hundreds of friends.”

Greater Manchester Police said the driver of the Matiz and two other passengers suffered minor injuries.

Asylum seeker Wilfred Museka, who is originally from Zimbabwe, has appeared at Bury Magistrates Court this morning (Monday) charged with causing death by dangerous driving after driving the wrong way up the motorway.

Museka, 31, of Powell Street in Clayton, is also charged with fraud by false representation, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

He spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth at the brief hearing.

Robin Lynch, prosecuting, told the court the defendant is an asylum seeker.

Museka was remanded into custody and will appear at Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, on October 8.
