Olympic Torch passes through Batley

Waiting for Video...

The Olympic Torch was in Batley this morning, when hundreds of people lined the streets to catch a glimpse of a piece of history.

The flame was passed by Brenda Thompson to Liam Brentley in Batley Field Hill before it went to Stocks Lane, where pupils from Batley Parish School were waiting with their flags, banners and hand-made bats to represent the town.

From there the torch was taken up Mayman Lane, Clerk Green Street, Dark Lane and Track Road before being passed over in Halifax Road into Dewsbury.

See this week’s Batley and Birstall News for more pictures, out Thursday.
