Police appeal after Scotchman Lane crash

DETECTIVES are looking for the driver of a stolen car that crashed and flipped onto its roof.

Last night’s accident happened on Scotchman Lane, close to the Needless Inn pub, as a blue BMW 630i, travelling towards Morley, crashed into a wooden post before hitting a stone wall and flipping over and coming to rest on its roof.

The injured driver of the BMW, which had been stolen from a burglary earlier yesterday evening, was seen to leave the scene shortly after the collision in a silver Mercedes estate type vehicle containing two men.

An area of Scotchman Lane remained closed overnight while forensic officers examined the scene.

The driver of the BMW is described as white, between 35-40 years old, of slim build and had a bald head. He was wearing a t-shirt and trainers.

The two men from the Mercedes were both white, aged between 25-30 years old. One was described as being of medium build, had a large nose and spoke with a local accent.

The second man was of skinny build and was slightly smaller.

Anyone who saw the collision or anyone with information is asked to contact Holbeck CID via the non-emergency number 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously and in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
