Rebecca Caine’s father wins battle to have her killer deported

A grieving father has won his fight to have his daughter’s killer deported.
Wilfred Museka was more than twice the legal alcohol limit when he drove the wrong way on the M62 and collided head-on with a car in which 20-year-old Rebecca Caine was a passenger.
Museka had acquired 11 driving convictions since coming to the UK in 2000 as an asylum seeker and was jailed for eight years last November for causing Rebecca’s death in September 2012.
Heartbroken father Tim Caine demanded the government send Museka back to his home country of Zimbabwe as soon as he is released, writing to home secretary Theresa May and Batley and Spen MP Mike Wood.
Now, following a meeting at Westminister, Mr Caine has a letter from the Home Office minister promising the government will do all it can to ensure Museka is deported and barred from re-entering the UK.
For Tim, the victory means an opportunity to move on from the tragic death.
“There isn’t anything more I can do,” he said.
“This will help me to move on.”
