Rock on for serving soldiers

A ROCK and roll night helped to raise funds for the Help for Heroes charity.

More than 2,500 was raised from the event at St Mary's Parochial Hall on Friday February 26.

Music was provided by the 20 Rock and Roll group who performed for free and gave organisers CDs to sell to help raise money for the charity that helps soldiers and their families.

There were also three charity stalls on the night and two raffles, with prizes donated by local businesses and individuals.

Private Craig Walker, a serving solder with 663 Squadron, presented the fundraisers with three army badges in a frame.

Kath Field, one of the organisers of the charity evening, said she wanted to thank all those who donated raffle prizes.
