British Lion and English rugby legend Bill Beaumont has paid a visit to a Batley fabric firm.
The former Question of Sport host owns his own textile business in his native Lancashire and visited Direct Fabric Warehouse, at The Mill, to sell some material to the firm’s owner Roy Bhalla.
Store manager Jayne Berg said: “We’ve met him before at trade shows, because he is at every one of them.
“He loves meeting people who buy his products and he is a lovely man, very friendly and always makes sure he speaks to everyone.”
Bill Beaumont Textiles has sold fabric to The Mill in the past and when news got out that Bill, 60, was paying a visit, tongues started wagging at the retail centre.
Jayne added: “I must admit that when the posters went up in the Mill, the staff were asking why he was coming to see us.
“We took great delight in telling them why.
“It is unusual for a big, strapping rugby player to sell furnishings. But he has a great reputation.”
