Slideshow: Hundreds gather for funeral of Dewsbury soldier Corporal Jake Hartley

Waiting for Video...

HUNDREDS of people gathered yesterday for the funeral of Dewsbury soldier Corporal Jake Hartley.

Christ Church in New Mill was full of the 20-year-old’s friends and family, with dozens more mourners assembled outside.

Cpl Hartley was killed along with five others when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan last month.

Relatives gave readings during the service, which was led by the Rev Canon Sean Robertshaw.

Our photographer Jake Oakley has put together this slideshow as a tribute to Cpl Hartley, his colleagues and his loved ones.

The song, Talking to the Moon by Bruno Mars, was played at the end of the church service.
