THE snow falling in Batley’s town centre makes for a peaceful scene before the chaos of traffic delays and school closures.

Tony Doran sent in this picture overlooking Upper Commercial Street and the Batley Irish Democratic League Club (Nash) on Monday.
The heavy snowfall on Sunday night saw many schools in Batley and Birstall close for the day, while motorists faced long delays.
Traffic was at a standstill on the A62 (Leeds Road), with delays on the M62 motorway affecting other local roads.
But the extreme weather also produced pretty pictures like this one.
Check out our snow pictures special in this week’s paper.
