STAFF and customers were left starstruck when soap star Jack P Shepherd visited a Batley pub.

Jack, who plays Coronaton Street’s bad boy David Platt, swapped the Rovers Return for the Batley Irish National League Club over the festive period.

Stewardess Tracey Widdas was shocked to see him in her club.

“I’m a big fan of the show and one of the staff behind the bar told me David Platt was in,” she said.

“Of course I didn’t believe him but I walked around the corner to find him standing at the bar.

“I couldn’t believe it.

“You just don’t expect people like him to come into your club.”

The actor ordered a pint of Guinness before joining his family in the lounge.

Tracey added: “I asked him for a photo and he was more than happy to do it.

“The Chinese whispers started he was in and it got people’s heads turning.

“Punters started coming to the bar asking to borrow a pen and went over for an autograph.

“He was really friendly and was happy to oblige to all the requests.”

It is believed Jack, who is from Pudsey, had not visited ‘the Nash’ before.

The soap star dropped in during a busy period for the club, which benefited from the festive trade.

Tracey added: “We have been really busy over the Christmas period. Everyone got into the Christmas spirit and David Platt turning up got a lot of people excited.”

He stayed for around an hour and signed autographs and took photos with fans.

The 24-year-old has been involved in many of the soap’s major storylines since joining in 2000.

From surviving serial killer Richard Hillman to running down former best friend Graeme in his car, his character has been through the mill.

Yet his latest storyline could blow his family apart. His relationship with wife Kylie, played by Paula Lane, had been at breaking point over the festive period. And in a shocking twist, Kylie had a fling with David’s brother, Nick Tilsley, on Christmas Day.
