Stolen bus rampage man jailed By Lindsay Pantry

A MAN who took a stolen bus on a 30-mile rampage has been jailed. Click here to wathch footage.

Shane Andrew Oldroyd, 27, admitted taking the single decker Arriva bus from Wakefield bus station on Sunday, August 16.

During the terror ride he ploughed into a Mercedes, crushing it between the bus and a wall, leaving driver Nicholas Hardy scared for his life.

The bus injured two people, ploughed into vehicles, road signs, and shops in Ossett, Dewsbury, Batley, and Horbury Bridge, before it was eventually stopped on the M1.

Today at Leeds Crown Court, Oldroyd, of Bridle Lane, Gawthorpe, was given an indeterminate sentence for public protection, with a minimum tariff of seven years.

He was also sentenced for stabbing a man outside an Ossett pub in May.

Sarah Smith, 20, of Duke of York Avenue, Portobello, who has also pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated vehicle taking over the incident, will be sentenced at a later date.
