A PRIMARY school teacher has had a once-in-a-lifetime experience after volunteering for four weeks as a Games Maker at the Olympics in London.

Kirsty McConochie spent four weeks helping to welcome the Olympic athletes to the city at Heathrow Airport’s terminal five, and then sending them safely on their way once their part in the games was over.

“I was one of the first people involved in the Olympics that the athletes, sponsors and media crews saw when the arrived in London,” said Kirsty, who lives in Birstall.

“It was such an amazing experience. It was a world event and I was part of it, helping to make it happen.”

Kirsty also saw Myleene Klass playing the piano.
