The most ludicrous idea ever planned
I WOULD like to object to the new plans set out for Commercial Street, Batley, as a driver and resident for 61 years.
This has to be the most ludicrous idea ever planned. Stopping traffic turning right at the top of Well Lane will not work. Have you every tried to go up Cross Street during rush hour? It's a bottleneck with traffic wanting to access Wellington Street from Wards Hill.
Why not simply turn Commercial Street back to the main road, and Wards Hill back to the junction it always was before the last daft change? Traffic coming on Commercial Street towards Well lane has to signal left even though they are going straight forward, so it's very confusing for pedestrians as some drivers never signal either way.
Why not also allow the buses to go back down Henrietta Street into the bus station, as they are causing a big bottleneck at the traffic lights at Stocks Lane, with traffic backed up as far back as to the market place on a regular basis?
Why not talk to people living and working in Batley about changes to the town centre if you want ideas on how to make it work better?
