THIS WEEK’S PAPER

MORE and more cuts to the benefits system is seeing an influx of visitors to Batley Drop-In.

Batley MP Mike Wood has told the News he is worried the affect of the cuts, up to £30bn from the poorest people in the country, would have on Batley and Birstall, coupled with rising fuel bills.

ALSO: Historic town centre buildings have been hit by lead thieves. Batley Baths and Batley Library have been damaged in the recent spate of thefts, as well as an electricity sub-station in nearby Well Lane which had some Yorkshire stone slates pinched.

AND FINALLY: Anyone who’s been to Birstall this week will notice it’s all gone a bit pink. We’ve been and had a look at the traders’ efforts, and have shared our findings in this week’s paper.

Don’t miss this, plus a big cash giveaway and the chance to meet our Baby and Toddler hopefuls, only in this week’s Batley and Birstall News, out tomorrow.
