This week’s paper
IT’s smelly, dirty and anti-social – and people are taking a stand against the dog poo blighting our town.
In this week’s News, Batley resident Gemma Harrison has pleaded with dog owners to pick up after their four-legged friends after mess forced her to walk the children she looks after in the road to avoid dog dirt. People were quick to share their own experiences on Facebook, labelling parts of Batley ‘dog poo city’.
ALSO: Tributes have been paid to a teenager who died in a motorcycle crash. Jake Uttley, 17, was a volunteer at Bumpy in Birstall and died after crashing into a car in Rothwell on January 5. Bumpy manager Carolyne Kenzitt said the motorcycle training centre was absolutely devastated.
AND FINALLY: A secret cake club chose the Corner Cafe as the perfect spot to share their sweet treats. Batley’s first ever Clandestine Cake Club meeting proved a recipe for success, with members only given a couple of days notice before each meeting.
Don’t miss all this, plus our snow day picture special, an update on Wilton Park’s duck houses and top tips on banishing Blue Monday, all in this week’s Batley and Birstall News, out Thursday.
