This week’s paper

A couple who lost their baby 41 years ago have finally been able to place a cross on his grave. Paul and Dot Whitehead’s son only survived for a few hours after he was born prematurely. As was common practice in those days, he was taken away and they were never told where he was buried, until now.

ALSO: A Birstall pub is rallying round to support a two-year-old boy battling a rare and deadly form of cancer. This Saturday the Black Bull Inn in Kirkgate will host a fundraising gig for little Oliver Field, from Huddersfield, to raise funds for overseas treatment.

AND FINALLY: Traces of horsemeat has been found in a batch of IKEA’s Swedish meatballs. The furniture giant has stopped sales of all meatballs in its UK stores and are investigating the batch flagged up by Czech food inspectors.

Don’t miss all this, plus our spooky ghost-hunting feature, only in this week’s Batley and Birstall News, out Thursday.
