THIS WEEK'S PAPER

GOOGLE'S controversial StreetView Map has come to Batley and Birstall.

A specially equipped camera car has driven the area's roads taking 360-degree snaps of all the houses and business along the way. The images will go live on Google StreetView Map tomorrow (Thursday).

The project has sparked outcry from people in towns already on the map who feel their privacy has been breached, but Google say there is nothing on the map that can't be seen when walking through the streets in person. All faces and car registration plates have been blurred.

ALSO: A plan to raise 2.5m in the parking budget through parking charges has caused anger through Batley and Birstall. The News has seen a document which outlines plans to impose new charges in local car parks and increase charges in Dewsbury.

AND FINALLY: Police have swooped in on the biggest cannabis factory they've ever found. Around 500 plants were found growing at a house in Bromley Street, which would have been worth 150,000 when fully grown.

Don't miss all this, plus our last Cash for Schools voucher and your chance to win a free week at the gym, only in this week's Batley and Birstall News, out tomorrow.
