Win iPod with police graffiti competition

ONE Batley teenager could win an iPod if he or she has what it takes in street art.

Batley neighbourhood policing team wants young people aged between 13 and 18 to draw pictures of graffiti-art or tagging on paper.

Images should be sent to: Graffiti Project, Batley Police Station, Market Place, Batley, WF17 5AA with your name, age, address and contact details, to arrive no later than May 9.

There is no particular theme although entries depicting drug or alcohol awareness would be welcomed.

The designer of the winning entry will win an iPod and his or her graffiti will be sprayed on the side of a police van.

The van will be unveiled at an arts and music project day, an event organised by Northern Art, Kirklees Council and West Yorkshire police, on Saturday, June 14, from 2 to 5pm, at Wilton Park.

For details of the competition contact Pcso Diane Hewitt on 01924 295301.

For inspiration and ideas visit Northern Art’s website at www.northernartzone.net which will also publish the competition entries later.
