Mourners fill Birstall church as Rebecca laid to rest
MORE than 100 family members and friends filled a Birstall church for the funeral of Rebecca Caine.
It was standing room only at St Peter’s Church as the 20-year-old, killed in a head-on collision on the M62 in the early hours of September 16, was laid to rest.
Rebecca’s pink coffin was brought to the church by a horse-drawn hearse and mourners wore pink accessories for the service, which described Rebecca as a “shining light”.
In a family dedication read by Fr Simon Lodge, Rebecca’s father Tim said: “We have lost a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, a cousin, a niece and a special friend to many.
“I have also lost a best mate and the world has lost a beautiful, shining light.”
Rebecca’s lifelong friend Sarah Milner read a touching poem that Rebecca had written for her about their friendship.
“Becky was very creative,” she said.
The family’s eulogy ended with two of Rebecca’s favourite phrases: “Always look forward, never look back,” and “headphones on, world off”.
