Batley and Spen MP Mike Wood has been shortlisted for a national award for his dedication to his constituents.
Mr Wood is one of 70 candidates for the second Diplomat Initiative Award, which seeks to recognise politicians and diplomats across the UK who represent people’s interests at the highest level.
He was nominated for his strong moral groundings on parliamentary voting and civil liberties.
Award hosts, consultancy Grassroot Diplomat, said: “Considered by his constituents as one of the more independently minded MPs, Mr Wood is known to consistently vote with conscience since becoming a politician in 1997.”
It also praised Mr Wood for his commitment to his constituents.
The awards will be held in London in April.
