A park and museum described as the ‘jewels in Batley’s crown’ have a newly formed Friends group.
A meeting to form the Friends of Bagshaw Museum and Wilton Park on Sunday saw a band of 10 volunteers come together to get behind the Batley attractions.
The group hopes to host events and fundraisers and represent the best interests of park users.
Batley West councillor Peter O’Neill (Lab) said: “I am delighted that this group has now started up and will work to make one of Batley’s best kept secrets even more attractive and accessible to people from near and far.
“There is already an established Friends group at Staincliffe Park, so in Batley, that only leave Jessop’s Park in Healey without a Friends group.
“If anyone in Healey is interested in forming a Friends Group for Jessop’s Park, please contact me. The message is love your park.”
The group’s next meeting will be held at the museum on November 10 at 2pm.
