No bids yet for Kirklees College’s Batley site
KIRKLEES College is still waiting for a buyer for its Batley centre.
But the Grade II listed building has already been viewed by several prospective buyers since being put up for sale six months ago, according to property consultancy Dove Haigh Phillips.
Partner Mike Haigh said the Cambridge Street campus, formerly the technical school, could become offices, flats or community space.
He said: “It’s early days but there has been interest. It’s an extremely beautiful building, it would suit a variety of uses.”
Mr Haigh added there was potential to rent sections of the building to community groups.
“The owner might break it up and lease elements of the building,” he said. “At the moment we’re just considering the options open to us.”
