Budding bakers are being asked to fire up the oven for a festive bake-off.
Judging for the first round of Batley Business Association’s Great Batley Mince Pie Bake Off will take place next Friday before a grand final at the Christmas lights switch-on festivities on November 21.
The winner will be treated to afternoon tea for four at Bettys Tearooms courtesy of Brearleys Solicitors.
Entrants must cook six mince pies at home, which will be judged on taste, quality of bake and appearance.
Each pie must include traditional mince pie mincemeat, which can include vegetarian mincemeat.
Bakers have been encouraged to get creative.
They can use any type of pastry, make the pies any shape or size and can add additional flavours.
After the first round of judging, the top 10 amateur bakers will go through to the final at the festive switch-on in the market square.
Entry forms for the bake off are available from Brearleys Solicitors offices in Batley.
