Birstall Post Office will be closed for a more than a week to allow a major modernisation project to take place.
The post office, in Low Lane, will be transformed into a new style, open-plan branch as part of Post Office plans to modernise the network and extend the opening hours for customers.
The refurbishment will see the number of serving positions increased to three – one screened and two open-plan.
Birstall Post Office will also be open from 9am to 5pm, from Monday to Saturday, following the modernisation project.
The branch will be closed for refurbishment from Tuesday September 10.
The new-look post office will open on Tuesday September 24 from 1pm.
Once the project is completed, the post office will be open for 13 more hours per week.
During the closure, customers are advised that the nearest branches are Batley Post Office, in Upper Commercial Street, and Gomersal Post Office, in Spen Lane, Gomersal
Post Office regional network manager for Central England Adrian Wales said: “We understand how important the Post Office is to residents in the area.
“We are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”
The modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme that will see around half of the Post Office network converted into new-style branches.
