Pupils were left wide-eyed after Zulu warriors visited their school.

Staff and children at Hyrstmount Junior School, Highcliffe Road, were delighted when the Mighty Zulu Warrior Theatre Company accepted their invitation to perform at the school. Cast members wore authentic costumes and taught the students about Zulu culture including how to greet in their native language.

Headteacher Ann Crines said: “We had invited the theatre company to school as one of our themes this year is Africa.

“It allowed the children to gain an insight into Zulu folklore and customs through drama, song and dance.

“The whole event was spectacular.”
