Queen's Birthday Honour for long-serving Spen Valley Scout leader
A Scout leader from Wyke has been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours by being awarded the British Empire Medal for his 52 years of service to the movement. David Bentley volunteers with the 11th Spen Valley (Hunsworth) Scout Group. Writing on Facebook, former Scout Neil Earnshaw said:
“‘Midge’ saw me through Scouts from being a boy to a man. Best years of my life. Thanks to him and all other leaders who give up their time for this wonderful organisation. Bravo!”
