Residents' praise for Parliament workshop

A Batley-based welfare association recently ran a series of workshops for local residents to help try and give them a clearer understanding of how Parliament works.

The Pakistan and Kashmir Welfare Association (PKWA), situated on Manor Way, teamed up with Parliamentary services to run the workshops.

The sessions were aimed at enabling and empowering locals with the work and processes of Parliament.

Masood Iqbal, who participated in one of the workshops, said: “I found the workshop thoroughly useful as it increased my understanding of the legislative process, statutory instruments and delegated legislation.

“It also helped with how to track and influence bills before Parliaments.”

Razi Qadri also attended the event.

He said: “I want to thank PKWA for organising these important workshops which have enabled me to better understand the important role of the Parliament, Government & the Monarch.”

Khadim Hussain said the event was hugely worthwhile.

He said: “The workshop has given me an opportunity to understand developing an effective campaigning toolkit.

“I’ve also learned how to use different engagement methods as part of a campaign.”
