Stars from television documentary Educating Yorkshire donned their cricket whites on Sunday to raise money for charity.

Thornhill Community Academy headteacher Jonny Mitchell captained a team of teachers in the fifth annual cricket match to raise money in memory of Becci Marley, who died of cystic fibrosis in 2009.

The game, which took place at Ackworth Cricket Club, raised cash for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Becci’s mum Sue, who organised the match, said: “Losing a child really is the worst thing to happen to a parent. Even though it’s hard knowing Becci won’t benefit from a cure, we know she will be proud that we are trying to help other families.”
