Rugby fans have been enjoying a close-up view of the Rugby League World Cup.
The coveted trophy visited the Batley Bulldogs’ stadium on Monday, where fans had the chance to have their photo taken with the cup.
The Rugby League World Cup was showcased at the Loverugbyleague.com stadium as part of its tour of Kirklees.
Batley Bulldogs general manager Paul Harrison said: “We were delighted to have the trophy at our ground.
“The turn out was brilliant and the fans came out in force to see it.”
Schools from Batley visited the club during the day and had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the 24-inch silver plated trophy.
Pupils also took part in rugby league and multi-skills activity sessions.
The sessions were part of Active Kirklees – a Kirklees Council’s programme to encourage youngsters to support the sport in the year of the Rugby League World Cup.
Mr Harrison said: “The kids have been up to the club and have had a great day.
“The buzz of having the trophy on show and taking part in the sessions is fantastic and will only help encourage them to get involved in the sport.”
Bulldogs supporters also had the opportunity to stop by the Loverugbyleague.com stadium in the evening to see the coveted trophy.
The Rugby League World Cup is being hosted by England and Wales and will be contested later this year.
England’s opening fixture is against rivals Australia on Saturday October 26 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
