In this week’s Batley and Birstall News:

Batley’s famous Frontier nightclub could be torn down to make way for a shopping centre or office complex. The Bradford Road club – formerly Batley Variety Club, graced by stars from all over the world – is being evaluated by developers, it has been announced.

PLUS: Will Batley’s John Travolta find his very own Olivia Newton-John on ITV show Take Me Out? Richard Senior, known along the Golden Mile for his white suit and smooth moves, will step into the Love Lift in the February 8 episode. Will he bag himself a date or experience a black out?

AND FINALLY: Oakwell Hall was under the spotlight this week as scenes were filmed for BBC drama Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. The seven-part series, set in the early 19th century, will air at Christmas.

Don’t miss all this, plus: Batley Carr nursery complains to Ofsted about ‘inadequate’ rating; new affordable home plan for former cricket ground; cemetery patrols increased after cross vandalism; and don’t miss our in-depth report on Holocaust Memorial Day.

Only in this week’s Batley and Birstall News, out Thursday.
