Fire crews received 215 emergency calls in five hours yesterday (Wednesday), as severe storms battered the region.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service worked throughout the night to support communities affected by the wind and rain.

Between 4.30am and 9.30am, a total of 215 emergency ‘999’ calls were received by Fire Control, of these 70 were directly related to the weather.
