The Reporter Series and Observer & Advertiser staff have joined colleagues in wearing the sunny shade today as part of Wear it Yellow Day, while raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Thornhill Academy in Dewsbury has joined in the fundraising by also going yellow for the day and even had Yorkshire Air Ambulance drop in for a visit.
Wear it Yellow Day is the landmark fundraising event to come from the #yellowyorkshire campaign, which has been urging communities and businesses to embrace the yellow theme of the Tour de France ahead of this week’s Grand Depart.
We have teamed up with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance in a bid to both raise money for charity and celebrate the Tour de France Grand Depart from the region on July 5 and 6.
YAA spokeswoman Abby McClymont said: “We’ve had a fantastic reaction to the Yellow Yorkshire campaign since its launch and have been quite overwhelmed by the reception from businesses and organisations across Yorkshire which has been so positive.
“There are some fantastic yellow-themed ideas coming through and we are excited to hear of the plans that people have to help support us.”
