THIS photograph was found among a treasure trove of history at an Upper Batley home.

Dave Robinson was carrying out electrical works in the attic of his Upper Batley Low Lane home when he came across a stack of old school annuals and gardening magazines – and this photograph of a football team likely to be from the area.

When delving into the history of his home Dave, 63, found out it was in the Boothroyd family for nearly 40 years.

From when the house was built in 1913 the house was owned by Samuel Boothroyd until 1922.

Then, for nine months it was owned by William Percival White before it was passed to Gilbert and Ivy Boothroyd, who lived there until 1951.
Dave believes it was this last couple who left the photograph.

He said: "I am sure a lot of houses built around the same time will have the same kind of things hidden away. Perhaps people just put this sort of thing out of the way in case they wanted it later," he said.
"I think Samuel Boothroyd put this picture in the attic and forgot about it."

The picture is now on display, along with with other local memorabilia at the Scotland Inn, Bradford Road. Dave added: "This is an old Batley picture and I just thought there may be someone who recognises their relatives in it.

"It's not something I would just discard."
Dave's attic archive also contained wool and textile records from March 1921, gardening magazines from 1914 and annuals from a Hereford school called Lucton, which he believes may be the connection to the former name of his house, Luctonholme.

Before the present house was built the site had a house called The Rookery.

Dave said names on the deeds included the Rt Hon Arthur George, Earl of Wilton, and Sir Frances Douglas Blake.
