THE Aardvarks are four points clear at the top of the Dewsbury Table Tennis League, after a 7-3 victory over the Colts second team. James Brown and Richard Cooper were in fine form winning all their three games and not dropping a set.
Joshua Lane, Tim Martin and Thomas Lennox won a game each for the Colts. Freddie Brown also made an appearance for the Aardvarks, the six-year-old won a couple of sets, and is improving all the time with coaching from dad James.
Battyeford are u
p to second with a series of good wins, after playing some re-arranged matches.
Battyeford’s match against the Terriers was a hard fought battle though, which they won 7-3.
Man-of-the-match was the returning John Flynn who won all his three games and only dropped a single set on the night.
He was well supported by team-mate Peter Tucker, who had to play first.
Congratulations also go to Joshua Lane, who was picked to train with the Northern Regional squad at Bradford, run by former England international Sally Shutt, who is now one of the top coaches in the country.
It now brings the number of Dewsbury juniors attending the academy to four.
Jim Allan, Dewsbury coach, says that the hard work in the training sessions are now showing results, and the future is looking bright.
