Hampshire Cup trip into unknown for Birstall CC

BIRSTALL face a trip into the unknown in the first round of the Jack Hampshire Cup after they were paired away to Central Yorkshire Cricket League newcomers Pollington.
Among the other local ties, Batley travel to Woodkirk while Moorlands host top-flight side Wakefield Thornes on Sunday, May 23.

The draw is seeded, with the top-four teams from last season’s Premier Division receiving byes to the second rou
nd and the next 12 highest ranked teams being drawn away to lower ranked opponents.

East Ardsley are at Oulton, while Scholes can expect a warm reception when they go to Caribbean.

First round draw: Caribbean v Scholes, Oulton v East Ardsley, Adwalton v Mirfield, East Leeds v Northowram Fields, Woodkirk v Batley, Westwood Park v Liversedge, Netherton v Buttershaw St Pauls, Carlton v Altofts, Moorlands v Wakefield Thornes, Hunslet Nelson v Ossett, Pollington v Birstall, Gildersome v Wakefield St Michaels. Byes: Wrenthorpe, Townville, New Farnley and Methley.

The second round is scheduled for June 13, the quarter-finals on June 27 and semis on July 18, with the final to take place on August 15.
