THE Yorkshire Amateur RL season gets under way on Saturday with home games for Batley Boys and Birstall Victoria in new divisions after their title wins last season.
Batley Boys start in the Premier Division with a big task at Halifax Road (2.30pm) against Hunslet Warriors, who finished runners-up to Queens in the play-offs and the Senior Cup last season. It should be a good test of their ability.
Victoria start in Division One against Normanton Knights at White Lee, a ground which looks very impressive after the close-season improvements, including the pitch being fenced off.
The sides had two cracking games last season, which Birstall won 16-10 and 18-4, and a repeat would be a fine start.
Shaw Cross A launch their season in Division Three with a trip to Kinsley.
