Batley Bulldogs suffered a 13-6 defeat away to Sheffield Eagles in the Kingstone Press Cider Championship on Friday night.

Amazingly the first half was pointless but Sheffield took control after the break.

Quentin Laula-Tugagae scored the first try and former Dewsbury Rams half-back converted.

Tom Armstrong extended the Eagles lead with a second try and Walker’s goal made it 12-0 before Batley hit back when Jason Walton latched onto Ben Black’s pass to cross, with Tom Hemingway converted.

Batley’s efforts proved in vain though as Walker landed a late drop goal to seal the Eagles win.
