Crossbank secure Hampshire Cup progress with Sandal win

Crossbank Methodists secured Jack Hampshire Cup progress last Sunday with a 46-run victory over Sandal.

Crossbank have yet to win a league game this season but they did enough to register a cup win and set up a second round trip to Hunslet Nelson.

James Colborn (61) and Louis Bentley (48) guided Crossbank to 188, despite the efforts of Tom Lightfoot (4-19).

Sandal’s reply of 142 included a battling 50 from Kristian Shuttleworth, but Bentley followed up his efforts with the bat by claiming 3-15 to steer them through.

Hunslet Nelson booked their passage with a 211-run win over Adwalton.

Patrick Hinchliffe (91), Andrew McIntosh (60) and captain Will Stiff (60) helped Nelson post 314-8 before dismissing Adwalton for 103 with Glen Thompson taking 3-21.

Championship Two leaders Hartshead Moor were given a tough fight by Conference table toppers East Ardsley.

Moor eventually secured a one wicket win with an over to spare as Rauf Qayyum (37no) helped them edge past the modest East Ardsley total of 133 despite the efforts of Louie Hurley (3-28).

Haseen Bashir (34) top scored for Ardsley, in the face of good bowling from Iain Wardlaw (3-13) and Danny Squire (3-45).

Wakefield St Michael’s were the one Conference side to topple Championship Two opponents when they defeated Hopton Mills by 18 after successfully defending a total of 128.

Alex Leyshon (29) top scored for Saints as the Mills bowlers Zaaid Sajwal (3-13) and Ahmed Faraz (3-23) impressed.

Despite 33 from Arshad Ali, Hopton Mills were bowled out for 128 with Adrian Miller picking up 3-27.

Heckmondwike and Carlinghow suffered an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Oulton.

Paul Cooper hit seven sixes in his 91 and was well supported by Ryan Headley (61) as Heckmondwike posted 215-9, William Harrison claiming 3-15.

Harrison then hit an unbeaten 107, including two sixes and 13 fours, and shared a second-wicket stand of 155 with Ryan Hedley (61) as Oulton raced to victory with 6.3 overs to spare.

Syed Bukhari made a superb 182 not out and shared a 225-run stand with Zaeen Zulfqar (84) as Azaad made the day’s top score of 351-2 against Windhill Daisy Hill, who struggled to 94-8 in reply. Razwan Subhani claimed 3-34.

Liversedge secured their place in the last 16 with a seven-wicket victory over Rodley, who they restricted to 128-9.

Keighley booked a second round place with a five-wicket win over East Leeds, Carlton defeated Idle by three wickets and Altofts overcame Brighouse.
