Ashton’s double helps Clough U14 Girls conquer Hebden Bridge
Howden Clough Under-14 Girls turned the tables on Hebden Bridge, who have beaten them for the last two seasons, with an emphatic 4-2 win.
Playing uphill and into a fierce wind, Ellie Woods had little to do thanks to great Clough defending. Isabel Maguire and Lauren Atkinson played well, Rachel Day was solid in midfield and Charlie Cassidy marked Hebden’s star player out of the game.
Clough led 1-0 thanks to Charlotte Ashton and just after the break she added a fine second. Megan Ryan and Beth Davies won plenty of ball in midfield and pushed on well. Gabby Johnson showed strength and passion up front.
Davies coolly finished before Isobel Hilton, who was solid in the tackle, capped a girl-of-the-game display with a fine shot into the top corner.
All four Clough Under-7 teams were at home. Billy Goodman opened the scoring for the Under-7 Orange team against Kirkburton.
Harry Hartley made some fine saves and scored two goals after the break, while Wasley Parkin ran welll.
Charlie Tokarski capped a good game with a goal. MoM Ben Ryan tackled well and scored twice. Herbie Spencer shone in defence and made good runs while Isobel Elliot and George Bentley defended well.
Under-7 Tangerines MoM Alfie Mace took his chance well to score against Kirkburton. Luke Partridge worked hard up front, Rafi Midgley made some good runs and Patrick Daly tackled well.
Mason Dawkins and Jack Kovacs defended wel, Isobel Elliot shone in midfield and Herbie Spencer hit a post after a great run.
Brandon Smith was MoM for the Under-7 Black team against Pudsey after good runs and going close to scoring.
Arran Parkinson and Bobby Knox defended well. Charlie Richards impressed in goal in the first half before making good runs after the break.
Max Peel and Billy Playford tackled well before the latter moved in goal after the break and produced some fine saves.
Curtis Peel passed the ball well and made good runs.
Under-7 Tiger team MoM was first-half goalkeeper Sam Robinson for his fine saves, followed by his hard work outfield against Pudsey.
Louis Stone tackled well in midfield and Miles Wilkinson shone in defence.
Jack Sowerby created chances up front, Joseph Pritchard made good runs and Thomas Ryder passed the ball well.
