The Woodlands total owed much to a superb whirlwind innings from Sarfraz Ahmed as he smashed an unbeaten 62 from just 23 balls.

Openers Tim Jackson (40) and Sam Frankland (30) started briskly before the innings stalled as the St Lawrence spinners joined the attack.

Alex Atkinson upped the tempo with five fixes and three fours in his 57, but it was the arrival of Sarfraz that changed the complexion of the game.

Sarfraz bludgeoned six sixes and four fours to boost the Woodlands total up to 241-5 with support from Greg Finn(35no).

Off spinner Chris Marsden was the pick of the St Lawrence bowlers with 3-43.

Adam Waite battled for his 38 in reply while Richie Lamb provided some late defiance with a breezy 50, but St Lawrence were dismissed for 153.

Brice finished with 5-44 and fellow spinner Kez Ahmed 3-32 as Lawrence suffered a third straight league defeat.

That allowed Hanging Heaton to take over at the top with an 85-run victory over Scholes

Opener Nick Connolly (60) and Joe Fraser (58) led the way in Hanging Heaton’s total of 203-8, which saw their former player James Stansfield take 4-55 for Scholes.

Sarfraz may be in his 16th and final season with Woodlands but Heaton overseas man Muhammad Rameez is having a terrific first season in England.

The spinner claimed 5-14 and took his wickets tally for the season to an impressive 38 as Heaton dismissed bottom club Scholes for 118.

Hanging Heaton have moved eight points clear at the top and the leading duo meet at Bennett Lane on July 30.
