Brook is spot-on as Lees earn WR semi
Thornhill Lees powered into the West Riding Sunday Cup semi-finals with a convincing 5-1 win over Manston Wanderers.
Lee Brook scoreded two penalties for the hosts while Lees also had Nicki Croisdale, Scott Hargreaves and Tristan Cost on target.
Lees will now face Halton Moor or Leeds Lions Seniors in their semi-final at WR county headquarters in Woodlesford on Friday March 30 (7.30pm).
The winners will meet Belle Isle WMC, West Bowling or Buttershaw White Star in the final on April 26.
St John Fisher’s hopes of reaching the last four ended as they lost 4-2 at home to Belle Isle WMC. Stacy Gott and Jonathan Graham were on target for Fisher.
Gomersal and Dewsbury Rangers will try again this weekend to stage their WR Sunday Trophy quarter-finals (11am).
Gomersal host Waiters Arms while Rangers visit AFC Hanover Arms. If both win through they will meet in the semi-finals at county headquarters on Friday March 16 (7.30pm)
n The only Heavy Woollen Sunday League Premier game to survive saw Towngate moved up to fourth with a 2-0 win at bottom side Battyeford. Levi Maturine and John Paul Flynn struck to see Towngate seven points adrift of leaders St John Fisher.
Birkenshaw moved level on points with Championship leaders Woodman Batley Carr after a 6-1 home triumph over Oakwell Motel.
Paul Smith and Joel Farrar both scored twice for Birkenshaw while Lee Brook and Michael Smith also struck. Ben McCann hit Oakwell’s consolation.
In Division One, FC Woodman moved up to third, a point behind second-placed Birkenshaw Reserves who they beat 5-2.
Andrew Britton fired a hat-trick and John McNamara two as hosts Woodman took maximum points. Marc Trapps and Ashley Gibson replied.
Taylor had a hard-fought 6-3 win over Overthorpe Town thanks to strikes by Aamir Navsarka (two), Ashraf Navsarka (two), Suleman Aswat and Mohammed Makda. Overthorpe’s goals came from Steve Jordan, Danny Marshall and Ashley Hill.
Dale Joy and Darren Williams fired hat-tricks as White Horse moved up to second in Division Three with a 9-2 success at Snowden.
Damien Lickess (two) and David Bywater also scored to see White Horse within two points of leaders Battyeford Reserves. Bilaal Salu and Uzair Amirat replied.
Queens Hotel were beaten 5-4 at Punch Bowl, where Joshua Wood (hat-trick), Graham Puttock and Kieran Johnson found the net for the home side. Queens had Mark Wigley (hat-trick) and Ricky Naylor on target.
Overthorpe Town Reserves won 4-2 at Moorlands CC thanks to Joshua Blakeway, Lewis Ward, Sean Hodgson and Jonny Hartley. Razeb Raja hit both for Moorlands.
