Cross win cup final rehearsal

SHAW CROSS SHARKS

THE Under-15s Yorkshire Cup Final against Hunslet was postponed because of the weather but the clubs played a league game and Cross earned a confidence boost for the final with a 22-8 success.

The Cross pack of Reece Parker, Scott Lee, Zak Lockhead, Zac Parkinson, Jordan Hargraves and Jack Anderson, battled hard and Liam Sutcliffe scored between the posts after a neat side-step.

Soon after Brandon Conway burst through on the wing to give Cross a 10-0 lead.

From the restart Curtis Naughton skipped through for a 70-yard try and completed another mazy run to score between the posts as the Sharks led 22-0 at half-time. Naughton also landed three conversions.

Hunslet scored two tries early in the second half but Cross held firm.

MoM were Sutcliffe and Anderson. Ben Morgan had his best game of the season but this was a big effort by all the team. Special mention for the referee, who came all the way from Coventry, and said he was proud to officiate two such good teams.
