Dewsbury Moor go top after toppling Shaws
DEWSBURY Moor beat Shaws five tries to nil last Friday to go top of the Dewsbury Celtic Tackling Men's Health Seniors Touch Rugby competition.
Alan Samme and S Morton both scored two tries while Julian Yarrow and James Hammill also touched down.
Moor trio Yarrow, Hammill and J Brown lead the try-scoring chart with five so far in the competition along with Dave Thornton of Thornhill Trojans.
Moor are a point clear of Thornhill after drawing 0-0 against Shamrocks, who stand two points behind in third place.
Phil Khan, John Roadnight, Sean Senior and Jason Jennings were among the tries as Dewsbury Celtic moved up to fourth with a 5-2 success over Staincliffe (Adi Flynn and Mark Frain).
Birstall Victoria recorded their second win of the competition, beating Drighlington 6-3.
Brian Sheard, Graham Waring, Mark Stevenson, Mark Jones, Steve Ewen and Alan Holdsworth scored for Victoria while Drighlington replied through Phil Jackson (two) and Chris Burton.
Tomorrow’s matches in Dewsbury’s Crow Nest Park (kick-off 6,.30pm) see Dewsbury Moor face Birstall Victoria, Shaws tackle Thornhill Trojans, Drighlington take on Dewsbury Celtic and Staincliffe line up against Shamrocks.
