East Bierley duo scoop Bradford League awards

EAST Bierley cricketers have won the Bradford League Division One bowling and batting averages.

The stats of been compiled by Mike Rhodes and were released soon after last Saturday’s final round of league games.

Bierley captain Lee Goddard won the batting averages having scored 613 runs at an average of 43.79, while teammate Kez Ahmed collected the bowling prize having taken 43 wickets at 12.42.

Morley overseas star Kashif Naveed was the league’s leading run scorer, making 891 runs at an average of 68.54, as he collected the Division Two batting prize.

Naveed also finished third in the bowling averages, which was won by Yeadon’s Damon Gormley.

Local cricketers also led the way in the Bradford League Division One second team averages.

Cieran Garner of Woodlands won the Division Two batting averages, ahead of Hanging Heaton’s Howard Ellis.

Heaton spinner Umar Rehman took the second team Division One bowling prize.

Awards will be handed out at the Bradford League annual dinner in November, when former England Test start Alec Stewart is guest speaker.
