Fisher win top-two tussle to close gap on Birstall St Pats

HEAVY Woollen Gate League Division Three leaders Rising Sun gave out a footballing lesson to Belle Vue, winning 10-0.

Steve Alderson and Tom Bentley led the way with a hat-trick each, supported by Lewis Collinson (two), Dean Vernon and Aaron Young. Rising Sun are seven points clear of Taylor Street, who had a 2-1 win at Crown Leeds Road Reserves (Jamie Baulk).

James Oakes scored for third place St Ignatius but they were held to a 1-1 draw with Northorpe United, who had David Ewart on target. Shaun Hodgson opened the scoring for fourth placed Overthorpe Town Reserves but they were pegged back by Craig Russell’s strike as West End Rangers held on for a 1-1 draw.

Paul Hathaway (brace), Adam Gibson, Neil Kennedy, Danny Wilkinson, Anthony Speight, Howard Farrar, Ashton and Phil Braham found the net as Batley Celtics hammered bottom side Ravensthorpe All Stars 9-2. Kasim Ali and Bilal Mir replied for Stars.
