Fox's Biscuits clinch title

FOX'S Biscuits clinched the Dewsbury District League Section B title on a thrilling final day of the campaign.

Fox's and runners-up Shayaan recorded maximum point wins in their final games and finished the season level on 49, while they also both ended with seven maximum point wins. Fox's clinched the title by virtue of one more five-point win.

The club were only formed last year as part of the Project Golden campaign, set up to keep the Batley biscuit factory site open.

The objective of starting a cricket team was to help build a rapport with the people of Kirklees and help make the public realise how important the Batley site was to the people who work there and to the local community.

The team finished third in their first season, just missing out on promotion but have clinched the Section B title in their second season. They also reached the semi-finals of the Dewsbury District Twenty20 Cup.

Credit goes to the players, who work hard throughout the week at the factory and spend time away from their families to represent their work collegues when playing.

Captain Arfan said: "The Fox's team's commitment and hard work will hopefully ensure we are able to meet new challenges and emerge as one of the strongest teams in the Dewsbury District League."
