Gomersal edged out in Heavy Woollen Cup final

Gomersal lost by 45 runs to Shepley in Sunday’s Heavy Woollen Cup final at Spen Victoria.

Huddersfield League Shepley reached 336-5 with man-of-the-match Tom Denton smashing 148.

Gomersal produced a determined reply and were well in touch at 265-6.

Openers Andrew Gorrod and Adam Greenwood shared a stand of 98 before Richard Whitehurst top scored on 83 but Gomersal were eventually 291 all out.
