BATLEY Bulldogs continue to put in the hard graft as pre-season training enters a second week.

The Bulldogs squad have been put through their paces after having around seven weeks off following the close season but coach John Kear has been delighted with the attitude and commitment shown.

Kear said: “There have been a few sore and tired bodies but that is to be expected.

“The players have had seven weeks of low volume and all of a sudden have stepped up to extreme training but the players have been very enthusiastic.”

Alex Walmsley was given permission from St Helens to train with Batley last Saturday after choosing to undertake extra sessions, while Bulldogs great Craig Lingard has also taken up his role as assistant coach and Kear admitted he is looking forward to working closely with the club’s record try scorer.

Batley have confirmed they will travel to Halifax for a pre-season game on January 13, while Kear is hoping to arrange a third warm-up clash for January 13.

Season tickets also remain on sale from the club, priced £160 adults, £110 concessions and £35 children.
