SHAW Cross Sharks product Joe Chandler has returned to the club as the new first team coach.

The 23-year-old prop and second-rower with Keighley Cougars will take charge of the Sharks’ National Conference League side and will be assisted by Brett Turner and Steve Jones.

Chandler, whose younger brother Aiden is a Shaw Cross winger, came through the Leeds Rhinos academy before spells at Oldham and Halifax.

He joined home town club Dewsbury Rams for a loan stint last season but was snapped-up by new Keighley Cougars boss Paul March in November.

Sharks have also named Daz Barstow, Craig Simonds and Johnny Bond as their coaching team for the A side currently playing in Pennine League Division 3.

Pre-season training starts on Monday, January 14 (6.15pm) at the club’s Leeds Road ground.
