Littletown win to spice up title charge

Littletown took a huge leap towards the Heavy Woollen Sunday League Premier Division title after long time leaders St John Fisher suffered their first league defeat of the season.

Fisher lost 7-1 against a fine Towngate side who scored through Danny Facey (hat-trick), Ashley Flynn (brace), Leon Henry and Bradley Riley. Rob Bordman replied for Fisher.

Littletown moved up level on points with the leaders, but with a game in hand, after Andy Godding and Jordan Maltas netted in a 2-1 win over Tingley WMC.

Tristan Cost, Lee Brook and Ross Ingham all found the net as Thornhill Lees moved up to fourth place with a 3-0 win at Navigation.

Danny Clapham bagged four goals as West End thrashed Thirsty Man 9-0. Gibril Bojang hit a brace, with Luke Sherman, Colin Wood and an own goal completing West End’s biggest win of the season.

In Division Two Barr Street’s title aspirations suffered a knock as they were held to 4-4 draw at Ravenswharfe.

Dwayne Wilkinson (brace), Anthony Furey and Daniel Stuart scored for Barr Street, who must now win all their remaining eight games to overhaul leaders Railway East Ardsley, who have completed their fixtures.

Ravenswharfe replied through an Ashley Mackereth double, plus strikes from Stephen Smith and Michael Smith.

Batley Irish Nash are fifth after an 8-1 drubbing of Heckmondwike Sports Club. Nash scorers were Sean Housecroft (brace), Andrew Smith, Chris Shaw, Kyle Halloran, Gary Sheen, Shane Carter and an own goal, with Richard Cope scoring for Sports.

James Riley hit a double as Marsh drew 2-2 with Rising Sun (Darrell Smith and Alistair Drew). Both teams are in danger of being relegated.

Battyeford Reserves are two points clear at the top of Division Three and did their goal difference no harm with a 10-1 thumping of Mount Pleasant. Barry Mitchell bagged five goals, Bobby Evans fired a brace, while Johnny Mitchell, Jason Evans and Josh Rawcliffe each netted one apiece.

White Horse are second after winning 7-0 at Batley Celtics. Damien Lickess and Darren Williams each scored twice, with Dale Joy, Paul Gledhill and Jamie Pearson scoring.

Overthorpe Town Reserves came from behind to win 4-3 at Snowden thanks to goals from Tristran Kennedy (two), Imran Khan and John Godding.

Punch Bowl enjoyed a 6-3 win over Moorlands CC. Graham Puttock, Harry Jones, Richard Totin, Bradley Balmforth, Ben Williams and an own goal accounted for Punch Bowl’s tally, Moorlands replied through Razeb Raja (brace) and Danish Khalid.
