Lower Hopton miss chance to close gap at top
LOWER Hopton missed the chance to move into the top three of the West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division after defeat at leaders Wibsey last Saturday.
A first-half strike from Kyle Mulley proved crucial as Wibsey won 1-0 to stay top by a point from Albion Sports, who had a 4-1 home victory over Ardsley Celtic.
Kyle Tomey hit a second half consolation for Celtic, who trailed 1-0 at the break.
Those results leave Celtic third-bottom, three points clear of Halifax Irish, while Hopton are in sixth place, five points adrift of Wibsey but with a game in hand.
In Division One, Heckmondwike Town moved up to eighth place after goals from Jamie Rodger and Craig Bolger saw them earn a 2-2 draw at home to Dudley Hill Rangers.
That point saw Heckmondwike move ahead of Overthorpe SC on goal difference after their game at leaders Hunsworth, who stay seven points clear of Salts and Steeton, was postponed.
Littletown remain seventh, two points ahead of Heckmondwike after their 5-2 defeat at Steeton. Danny Scott (penalty) and Lee McKeown hit second-half goals for Littletown.
In Division Two second bottom Dudley Hill Athletic lost 4-0 at home to AFC Emley.
In Division Three, second-bottom Littletown Reserves (Mark Morton ) lost 5-1 at home to Ventus/Yeadon Reserves.
Lower Hopton Reserves stay seventh after their game at Hall Green Reserves was postponed.
